Each day, in a small village in northeastern Connecticut,
I and my merry band of mouse-makers create my tiny mice
and other delightful ornaments and miniatures. We do so happily.
Our world is not one of carpools, dress-for-success, meetings,
or take-for-granted corporations. Our world is about fun,
creativity, staying home with our families, and balance.
Each of us knows what it was like to kiss our tiny children goodbye
and rush to an unfulfilling job for so much less than we were worth.
Each of us said goodbye to that lifestyle long ago. Our per-hour salaries
are no longer important because we save on wardrobe, gas, childcare cost
and all the expenses and stress that goes along with the corporate world.
We still all have challenges... but now WE decide how to meet them.
We have that extra cash every family seems to need AND we have a
feeling of community and self-worth. We love what we do - and it shows.
