Each day, in a small village in northeastern Connecticut,
I create my tiny mice and other delightful ornaments
and miniatures. I do so happily.
My world is not one of carpools, dress-for-success, meetings,
or take-for-granted corporations. My world is about fun,
creativity, and staying comfortable in my home workshop.
I know what it was like to kiss my tiny children goodbye
and rush to an unfulfilling job for so much less than I was worth.
I said goodbye to that lifestyle long ago. My per-hour salary
is no longer important because I save on wardrobe, gas, childcare cost
and all the expenses and stress that goes along with the corporate world.
I still have challenges... but now I decide how to meet them.
I have that extra cash every family seems to need and I have a
feeling of community and self-worth. I love what I do - and it shows.
